[Peter just freezes in place, releasing his hold on the bag tower.

The tower unsurprisingly without his interference just topples over onto the floor with more audible crinkling. Peter stares down at the pile, rising back to his full height from his crouch to stand.]

Uh.

Here. Uh, for you guys.

[Very smooth, Peter.]

[Otto's gaze goes to the fallen pile, then back to Peter's face. He's not sure if he should laugh, but he does end up smiling.]

Well, thank you. I'm sure Norman in particular will appreciate it. [...] Why didn't you just knock?

[heyunderoos]

I- thought you guys were asleep or- out. [He is struggling to find the right words. His whiskers still and droop a little.]

So, I thought I'd just leave it here, so you'd have something to eat.

Like... a snack, I mean. So you don't like die from starvation. [he can't stop himself. He's trying to. His expression becomes more embarrassed as he realizes what he's said.]

[Die from starvation? Good grief... This is another one of those pooka things, isn't it? He was just talking to Bruno about that last night.]

That's very thoughtful. Here, I'll take them inside. [He holds out his hands so Peter can just pile the bags on there instead of leaving them on the floor.]

[heyunderoos]

Uh- good- thanks? I mean, you're welcome? [Peter is still tripping over his words, looking several layers of embarrassment as he fumbles.

He grabs at the fallen bag of chips, snack cakes, and other assorted snacks off the floor. He starts placing some of the snacks in Otto's outstretched hands.]

[It's fine, Peter. Otto won't judge. He'll just do his best to hold onto all those snacks. There's so many of them...]

Did you pay for all these yourself?

[heyunderoos]

Yeah, there were also free ones sometimes so... [His handwaved job doesn't pay great, but he can manage to buy snacks.] I thought it'd be good to have them, I mean.

[sciencesquid]

Then, I'll pay you back for them. How much was this? Five solars? Ten?

[He's already turning to move the snacks into the room and you can bet that he's going for his wallet while he's in there.]

[heyunderoos]

[Peter clutches the last two bags in his grasp. His tail lashing across the floor in a stressed kind of wiggle.]

Oh-nonono- its fine! I just- wanted to do this!

[sciencesquid]

I know. And I'll happily accept the food, but if I do, I wish to return the favor by paying for it.

[The snacks are all piled up on the desk for now. With that done, he pulls open a drawer and takes out a little cloth satchel of solars.]

[heyunderoos]

You- really don't have to. [Peter insists with scrunch of his snout. He tries to explain his instincts, but not able to really get it into proper words.] I just- it's this weird feeling, I dunno how to even explain it.

[sciencesquid]

[Otto returns to the bedroom door, still holding the satchel in one hand.]

Is it like instinct? [That's what Bruno called it, anyway. He assumes it's apt.]

[heyunderoos]

[Peter has to think about that for a second, opening and closing his mouth for a moment before just closing it with a click of his teeth.

The word and meaning just solidifies exactly what the feeling he's been dealing with is.]

...Yeah, I think it is.

[He stares down at the offending chips in his grasp.]

[Otto smiles wryly. He reaches into the satchel, takes out a bunch of coins and holds them out for Peter.]

Just take it, please. You can use it to buy more food to keep around the house.

[heyunderoos]

[The teenager makes a face, exchanging the last of the snacks for the coins.]

Seriously, you don't have to pay me for it. I just wanna do it-? I mean, its definitely dumb, so I probably shouldn't.

If you want to do it, you can do it. There's no harm in it. I just want to sponsor you, so to speak. Especially if I'm going to be reaping the benefits.

[heyunderoos]

Do you like at least... some of the snacks? [Peter has to ask, feeling and sounding fairly self-conscious]

[sciencesquid]

Of course. Who doesn't like snacks? [He realizes as he says it this may be related to that junkfood discussion they had at the pool party. Oops.] If you're really that concerned, you can always include a bag of carrots next time, but one can never go wrong with chips.

[heyunderoos]

[Peter nods a little, relaxing a bit more. The junk food discussion had occurred to Peter at one point when he had been buying up snacks, but he wasn't quite sure if that would count towards this. Carrots also didn't keep quite as well as dried food like what he found.]

I'll keep that in mind. I was just- trying to... find something you guys would like.

[sciencesquid]

[He chuckles, leaning sideways against the doorpost.]

Oh, believe me, Norman will love all of this. He's a big fan of all kinds of snacks.

[heyunderoos]

Does he-? [The teenager starts to smile now, the reassurance doing wonders for the bout of self consciousness at his instincts acting up.] Maybe I should go- find more snacks then?

[Those whiskers are definitely wiggling again with interest. Watch out, Otto.]

[The enthusiasm is noted and logged away as oddly endearing.]

You can. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

[heyunderoos]

Lemme see what else I have then. [Peter seems to accept the solars, tucking them away in his jean pockets and moving back to his own room.

Otto can likely peek into the room and see yes, Peter does indeed have a lot of snacks carefully stashed in corners. The teenager has done his best to decorate the room beyond the snacks if the copious amounts of soft blankets on the bed are anything to go by.]

[Otto does indeed go around the wall a bit to peek inside Peter's room. That is... a lot of food in there. And still no vegetables or fruit, by the looks of it.]

[heyunderoos]

[The teenager rifles through one of the smaller piles before coming up with his arms full of a few more bags. His whiskers are definitely wiggling and his ears are perked as much as they can be.

The encouragement has done a good number on turning Peter from hesitant to chattery. He's slightly surprised Otto followed him to peek into the room, but he takes it in stride as he turns around to face the older man.]

Would any of these work? Some of them are a bit weird in flavors, but not bad I think?
