[Otto does indeed go around the wall a bit to peek inside Peter's room. That is... a lot of food in there. And still no vegetables or fruit, by the looks of it.]

[The teenager rifles through one of the smaller piles before coming up with his arms full of a few more bags. His whiskers are definitely wiggling and his ears are perked as much as they can be.

The encouragement has done a good number on turning Peter from hesitant to chattery. He's slightly surprised Otto followed him to peek into the room, but he takes it in stride as he turns around to face the older man.]

Would any of these work? Some of them are a bit weird in flavors, but not bad I think?

[Otto's glad to see that Peter's less nervous about all this, at least. Excited, even, to share some of this hoard. It stirs the strangest sense of family. He nods, smiling warmly.]

I think those would do wonderfully, if you're certain you're willing to part with them.

Yeah, I'm- more than good with that. [He walks back over to Otto, offering out the snacks.] I was kind of planning on leaving snacks out for everyone in Hill House.

I was just making sure you guys were taken care of first.

[The snacks are accepted with a grateful nod of the head.]

That's very sweet of you, Peter. With this, I think we'll have enough to last us a while.

[The wiggling of his whiskers slow somewhat as Peter loosely crosses his arms over his chest, still smiling at Otto for the most part.] That's good, cause...

Well, I know we're gonna all keep changing. I dunno how much more, but if you guys get stuck in your rooms you can at least have something easy to eat...?

Indeed, that makes sense.

[Otto goes to put the rest of the snacks in his room, then closes the door behind himself.]

Speaking of food, have you had breakfast yet?

[Peter seems on the verge of saying something before changing his mind.

Uh, not yet. I planned on putting the snacks out, but- I guess everyone is getting up kinda soon?

It is about that time of day, yes. [And Otto would've been out already, but there was a gala last night and it involved several glasses of alcohol. He's... a little hungover. Just a smidge.] Shall we go together?

[Peter nods at that, his expression brightening back up as he drifts forward towards his bedroom door.]

Yeah, please- I mean, I'd like that.

[Once they're both in the hall, Peter does pipe up again.] I kind of had a question for you. I was wondering if you'd want to help me with my- suit? [He nearly says spider suit before correcting himself.]

[Otto was about to lead the way into the kitchen, but the question distracts him enough to have him stay where he is for now.]

Your suit? Is it still not functioning the way it ought to?

[Peter comes to a stop once he realizes they aren't really going anywhere yet.] Yeah, it really hasn't since I got here. I can get in and out just fine. It doesn't really seal properly.

Karen my AI isn't functioning, and all the UI with her isn't up. Even the web-shooters don't seem to work. I've been fiddling with it but keep finding more problems.

[Otto's nose crinkles just a bit when the word "AI" is said out loud. It's not enough to convey complete disgust, but might just have been enough for Peter to note that it rubbed him the wrong way. He's silent for a brief moment, then finally starts walking again.]

Hmm... I suppose the best solution would be to remove the AI from the equation entirely and re-rig the interface to work manually. Take out all the components which aren't truly necessary to simplify the suit's functions down to its bare essentials.

[The reaction isn't extreme, but Peter notes the nose crinkle at mention of Karen.

He lets it go for the moment, focusing on the topic at hand. The awkward uncertainty from earlier drops away as Peter speaks. An easy assuredness slides into place. Peter knows his suit, and understands what he wants out of it.]

At this point, that might be the only way, yeah. A lot of the suit components function based on motion and vocal command, which Karen would help with. Without her or functioning UI I can't really use those features. Though the web-shooters should still be working even without her, but they aren't for some reason.

I'll have to pull the web-shooters out of the suit entirely. I had built them into the suit since I thought I wouldn't need another upgrade for a while after fighting Beck.

[Amazingly enough, the mention of Beck doesn't stir much of a reaction at all. He's so used to that man being voiced in a negative context by now that it's just par for the course.]

I suppose it's best to start from scratch, then. Salvage what you can from the suit and install it into a brand new one. Nanotechnology and AI are wonderful tricks, but ultimately, all you need is enough fabric to cover your features and the ability to shoot webs. [That's all his Peter had, he thinks idly, but decides not to say it out loud.]

[At this point, Beck will always somehow be in a negative context. Even with Peter's tentative peace with Beck, there isn't that much good will between them.

Well, its good to know Otto knows about Nanotechnology, so Peter doesn't have to explain that much to him.]

I guess you saw the nano suit before then-?

Yeah, that's fair. This suit was already pretty pared down from nanotech, since I don't really need that much technology to just patrol New York. I just need to find the right kind of fabric. This one was at least made to withstand stabbing and fire to some extent. [Whilst Peter 2 worked with what limitations he had at the time, this Peter works with the gains of his own time period.]

I might ask you to look at the web shooters if you'd want to, just- so I have more eyes on it? The mechanism meant to shoot the web keeps jamming. I've looked over it a few times to see why and its really just not working.

[Withstand fire and stabbing? Good god, Otto hates that that's even necessary. Why is he enabling this child to be a superhero, again?]

Sure, I can have a look, if you trust me with it. There may be a very simple fix to it. Though, if the consistency of the web fluid itself is the issue, you may need to ask Norman instead. Biochemistry is one of his fields.

I do trust you with it. [Peter's smile, even when shifted onto his still relatively new face is bright and genuine. There is easy trust there.

He's also happy to just talk to someone about this in a reasonable way.]

The fluid should be fine in theory, but asking him wouldn't hurt either. I've been updating the formula whenever I can. So maybe its time to change it again?

[Somehow, the affirmation that Peter trusts him with his spider gear causes a warm feeling to come to being inside Otto's chest. Is that pride? Or something else? He smiles.]

It's certainly possible there's a problem with the viscosity, or the way the chemicals interact with the inside of the webshooter. But let's look at the technical aspects of it first. I can try to take it apart, see if everything's still functioning the way it should.

[Peter almost wants to say they can work on it now, before remembering breakfast needed to happen first.]

After breakfast I can pull the web shooter out of the suit. We could look at it then, if you're not busy? [Otto is now hit with the big ole hopeful rat eyes.]

[Oh no! Not the big ole rat eyes again! Otto technically is busy, since it's the 14th, but he just can't say no to Peter.]

Ah, well, I do need to visit the Cube later, but I suppose I have an hour or two until then.

[The rat eyes will always do Peter's new ~~uncles~~ mentors in. He brightens further at the agreement, his whiskers picking up wiggling pace again. Otto gets an easy shorthand to read Peter's mood.]

[The whisker wiggling is not only an easy shorthand, it has an infectious effect on Otto's mood. His smile grows even warmer.]

It's no problem. I can always make some time for you.

[Peter's smile softens a little at the edges, his ears perking up just slightly. Whilst he feels like he can't express himself, he's decidedly unaware of how genuinely expressive his new body is.]
