Yeah. He was a really good cook. He used to be the one who handled a lot of the meals before. May usually burns everything, well almost everything to be fair.

Everything I cook is something he taught me. The lasagna especially was his recipe.

Latkes were just idk most nostalgic?

After he died I never really tried to make them cause it was something he did every time...

If I do I mean. I haven't celebrated in like forever. So maybe I shouldn't? idk.

[Peter shuts his laptop once Otto says he's on his way. The teenager feels... too conflicted about Hanukkah at the moment to get into it.

He pushes the laptop aside to survey his kingdom of potatoes. He perks up once he sees Otto.] Hi! Uh, welcome to- this?

[It is a comical amount of latkes on display.]

[Otto's gaze sweeps over the mountains of latkes. Most of them have likely cooled already. How many potatoes and onions went into this...?]

Well. If the smell is anything to go by, they should be delicious.

[Many. Many potato and onion. The rat was not supervised. Peter relaxes a little at that, genuinely perking up.]

I hope so, I mean- I had one or two, but I've always kinda had latkes far as I remembered, so I wasn't sure if I was biased or anything.

In my experience, if you've had something often, you grow desensitized to the taste and the quality. So if you think they're alright, they're likely better than that.

[Can he eat these by hand? Probably. But he's going for a plate anyway, so he can start stacking a few on there.]

Did you invite everyone else in the house as well?

[Peter huffs a little at that, but doesn't argue for once. A rarity.] I guess that's fair.

I've been messaging people, so, I think they should show up? I'll probably also give some to people outside the house. Chiaki for sure.

[Oh good, Otto's gotten through for once. Progress!] That's good. Food like this deserves to be shared.

[Once he's got enough latkes on his plate to last him a while, he'll carefully lift one up for a bite. Is it decent?]

[Slowly but surely the Spider pooka can be reasoned with.] I dunno if I could explain the reason behind them like Ben could, but, its still... something good.

[Surprise, Otto, its actually very good. Peter lacked chicken schmaltz, but he got the expected texture down just right. The edges are crunchy, a little brittle whilst the inside is light and creamy. Predictably some latkes are a bit crispier than others, but still rich and filling.]
